Northern Italian comfort foodA family run business specialising in authentic Northern Italian fare and familiar favorites. The menu at Ambrosini's features dishes like seafood risotto, roast duck as well as offal dishes such as chicken livers or fried lambs brains while the specials board offers dishes such as Loin of veal with truffle sauce and gnocchi alla Romana or Braised Venison in red wine with polenta - all are probably as good as any Italian restaurant where freshness and passion are among the ingredients,

We had a family meal at Ambrosinis before Christmas. Very little choice for vegetarians. Two of us had the gnocchi which was very heavy and bland and mainly tasted of tinned tomatoes - probably the worst Italian meal I have ever had. We live in the UK but have a house in Northern Italy so we're very familiar with Italian food and couldn't believe how such a supposedly highly rated restaurant could serve up such tasteless food. Two others had a duck dish which they said was fairly dry and tough. When the bill came we fortunately checked through it as we had been charged $80 for a bottle of wine and $120 for some dishes that we hadn't had. Amazingly the management didn't even apologise. Would never go there again as it was overpriced and a waste of money.
