The service was friendly and efficient but I have to say the food was a bit inconsistent - some dishes were amazing while others were fairly mediocre.
I had the confit duck salad. It was okay - the duck was quite nice, although a bit scarce. The quince and the figs were both also yummy, but having both together was a bit excessive because the salad became a bit too sweet. That said, the hazelnuts were yummy and when all ingredients combined, worked well. It was just perhaps a bit sweet for my palette.
Companion had the chicken burger which came out cold. After asking to get it reheated, it was decent. The sweet potato chips were a bit bland though.
On the plus side, coffee was delicious! I also strongly recommend ordering the ragu. I had major food envy when another friend ordered it - not only did it look divine, but I tried some and oh my god - it was perfection.
I will definitely be back, but think I'll need to rethink what I order.
Named for the oldest laneway on Manhattan Island, you’ll find this slick CBD entry wrapped around a glass entranceway at 1 O’Connell Street. On-point plating means the Buttermilk Hotcake ($14) might have you whipping out your phone to document the artful tumble of fluffy hotcakes, edible flowers, berries, seeds, mascarpone and organic maple syrup – even if you’re not the type to photograph your food. Harlem Hash ($16) with slow-braised pork, kale, kumera, onions and puffed wild rice sitting under a sunny-side egg nudges out the Scouts Breakfast ($16) of spuds, mushrooms, prosciutto, goats cheese and poached eggs, but only just. They’ve also renovated the Breakfast Roll ($14) into a satisfying avalanche of twice-cooked pork belly, apple ‘slaw, smoked BBQ sauce and fried egg. Single Origin Roasters makes for a smooth Latte ($3.50), or assuage any guilt with The Cleaner ($8/500ml) of beetroot, carrot, watermelon and ginger.
Bowery Lane is in the CBD at the circular quay and is great place for a catch up with friend or a date and you can go breakfast, lunch or dinner. Not easy to initially spot, you'd have to be intending to go there. I had seen some yummy pictures on instagram so booked to go with my friends for dinner. As you walk in, it has a trendy vibe, cleanly styled in black, wood and concrete with plants hanging on the walls. It was quite busy and the restaurant did very well considering the amount of people there. The menu is designed with snacks, entrees, mains and desserts S well as plates to share or banquets. The food could be described as modern Australian. We got some cheese croquettes to share - these were delicious. Then an entree each - the scallops (well cooked and beautifully presented), as well as the beef tartare. This was nicely flavoured with yolk and gherkin and two crackers on the side. For a main we got the ragu orichette with a mint and pea sauce atop. It was ...read more
When there for my Sisters Birthday. It's a cosy 2 level restaurant with Modern Australian food. It's a bit pricey but some of the food is worth it. Like to slow cooked lamb now that was something else it just melted in your mouth.
The service was good the waiter kept coming over to see if we wanted anything a sit we were OK which is always nice.
