The name Cowbell 808 has only recently been registered in my food radar, so it was quite surprising when I visited the shop this week and find it anything but modern. Locally situated at a leafy one-way street of Bourke St, the cafe occupies a very 80s decorated atmosphere with old style furniture and its relevantly 80s rock songs at the background. The place does have a run-down elements to it, but as for now, it kind of fits the old rustic charm they seem to be going for.
Some of the items might be of the modern kind, such as the big brekkie at $25. A quirky gem of a brunch joint my friend took us to! What I love most about this place was the super welcoming customer service! Our waiters were overly friendly and it really made the experience so much more enjoyable. Food was good. Their chai was good. Can't complain.
A new little gem on Bourke Street, the design is a funky milk bar theme with lego and vinyls inside.
The food was a little on the pricey side and no the best of options in the area for brunch, but the coffee is good. The spanish eggs were yummy but I was really interested in trying the ricotta pancakes with bacon ice cream!!
