Gould's Book Arcade

This place is huge. In fact I’d go as far as calling it a warehouse as opposed to a shop, but then again it does appear to be located in an old warehouse, or something similar. Honestly, the range is so huge you could spend an entire morning digging through here looking at books, and looking for books that you might have spent ages trying to find. Then again, don’t be surprised if the hard to find titles are still pretty hard to find. However, they also offer a decent range of DVDs and CDs, so there is always something else to grab.

Gould's.

It's a Newtown icon. It's been around for so long that really, it is a multi-dimensional bookshop. The outside doesn't do it any justice at all! Just think of the Tardis. This is the tardis bookshop.

On my first visit to this secondhand bookstore I was surprised by how big this place is, and the enormous amount of great books (and CDs) available! It's like a forest of knowledge and I was completely lost in the 'vintage library atmosphere'. With everything at good prices, it only takes seconds before you pick up your first book. And once you've left the store make sure you visit their website for a digital encore!

I defy you to wander into Gould's and not emerge more than an hour later with five books you never meant to buy. The cavernous store has everything you could ever hope to find, and Mr Gould is such a groovy fella, too!



The prices are good, and if you can't find what you're after, the staff are freakishly good at knowing where it is, even if it's buried under a tonne of books at the back of the store!
