Orient Hotel
Long established, The Orient Hotel is located in the Rocks in Sydney and mixes classic pub elements with contemporary touches. Downstairs, the traditional pub area is open every day, while a sophisticated nightclub is available Friday and Saturday evenings. Modern Australian fare is served in the bistro.
Stopped in for a quick vodka double shot because I know they have a really nice outdoor courtyard, but it started raining! i’ve always like the setup here, especially on weekends when the tight crowds spill up the stairs. It’s great on ground level too with designated areas for gaming, casual family dining and drinking as you circle the bar that centralizes the whole space. There’s great history at this place which is why it services a wide range of locals, commuting workers and travelers.
A traditional bar located in the Rocks. The décor is quite old inside- and its always quite dark.
But I like the beer garden out the back.
The drinks are cheap, and the nibbles are good.
(Though the birds are annoying outside).
Good for a cheap casual after-work drink.
A modern but heritage-style pub in the Rocks, the Orient is a charming favourite and never disappoints. If you go at busy times it can be particularly busy but if you manage to get a seat outside in their beer garden on a sunny day you can sit there for hours. The food here is pretty great pub food too and the staff are always really friendly.
A true blue, classic, Aussie pub. Not quite a destination; but somewhere that could quickly feel like a local. The prices match the location but not quite the quality of the establishment. There's an impressive food offering out back, with a wide selection of burgers and pub specials. But with the current gourmet burger explosion going on around Sydney, it's nothing special.
