We don’t want to gloat too much, but seriously... this is a gallery that has made the people of Brisbane justifiably proud. It has quickly shot to the top of the must-see list for art lovers from all parts of Australia, with its exclusive exhibitions such as Warhol and Picasso. This August, fashionistas will delight in the ‘Valentino, Retrospective: Past/Present/Future’ exhibit, all the way from Les Arts Décoratifs, Paris. And if that doesn’t take your fancy, there’s plenty more to see at the Queensland Art Gallery, just 150m ...read more
Most people love it when they hear the word "Free" so the GoMA is already off to a good start. Most of the exhibits were visually stunning, if not Art, but what do I know?
Downstairs tucked away from most of the Gallery is a kids section. When we went (weekday), the kids were able to make masks and our four year old was able to pretty much have the run of a craft table to himself and had a great time. He made his sister and himself a mask, whilst I joined in as well. We weren't rushed and he had a great time!
There was also a communal colouring sheets, but he didn't see the point since another kid has already messed it up! Also not being able to take it home, seemed a little silly to a 4 year old.
But I take my hat off to Brisbane City and GoMA for having something like this for free and for families.
We went here with 2 older teens, a very elderly woman and ourselves. The walk from the drop off zone was a bit of a struggle for the elderly woman, but there were enough places for her to sit and rest inside. All of the displays were fabulous. We all really enjoyed the experience.
We found staff to be very helpful and friendly, even the lady who said flash photography was not permitted did it in a very friendly way.
Parking is reasonably priced, especially if you make a day of it. We decided to eat elsewhere, as the cafe was too expensive for us.
Brilliant! Went to toddler time which is on a Tuesday and my little loved it. They really involved the museum as well which is great.
Also the current installations are great and cannot wait for the slide to open - yes there are two slides in the main entry (well just back) for kids for there 10 year anniversary.
Also, the space downstairs is also brilliant for kids. All about the ocean. Highly recommend it!!
