Amiconi is a West Melbourne institution. They have been serving authentic hearty Italian over the years. The ragu is right up there and so is the gnocchi. It's a cosy venue and they also served one of the best tiramisu I have had, ever. The service is excellent. Well worth a visit if you are in town.
Had the pleasure of dining here on Wednesday night. We had made a booking thankfully as it was very busy and there was 13 of us! I had my two kids with me and although they didn't have highchairs available for my little one, they were very friendly and tolerant of my children and their boisterous behaviour! The vegetarian fare on offer didn't really appeal to me personally as I like my food quite spicy so I asked the waiter if I could have the Gnocchi Matriciana without the bacon and they happily obliged which was nice. The service and atmosphere were welcoming and great for a family night out. But I agree with the other reviews for Amiconi, you must make a reservation!
Our favourite Italian in Melbourne...service is awesome and the food is great. They are flexible for vegetarians too - they make a great vegetarian gnocchi dish. Booking ahead may be helpful as it is often busy - meaning it can get a bit noisy at times, but there are also outdoor tables you can retreat to.
Amiconi is one of the best Italian restaurants I have dined at. Be warned though, it can get extremely busy, even during the week, so make sure you book a table. The food is wonderful and the service could not be better. Great food at very affordable prices. I would definitely recommend dining here!
