An Restaurant is an institution. It's been a mainstay of Bankstown for over 3 decades now and specialise in delivering delicious bowls of Pho. They only do serve pho and if you're not in the mood for beef or chicken noodle soup, you may go hungry. The aromas emanating from the bowls are amazing. The chicken pho is filled with generous chunks of meat, with nuanced flavours. The beef on the other hand, is more robust and packed with flavour. Each bowl is generous and that's just the medium sized bowl. If you're really hungry the large bowl will satisfy even the most famished! To cool things down, An Restaurant features a couple desserts. I enjoyed the three bean dessert. Lots of great textures and ice to cool down the taste buds. Service is super efficient. Expect your bowl just minutes. The only challenge with An Restaurant may be actually getting a seat in the first place as it's extremely popular on the weekend.
Waited 15 minutes to get a seat but as soon as we ordered wasn't even 10 minutes and food was already out for the whole table. Great value for money serving size for one is huge very filling. Really fresh one of the best Pho I have had. This big bowl of hot goodness is for a winters day.
It had been several years since my last visit, and I finally paid them a visit a few weeks back. Nothing seems to have changed. The restaurant still has the same layout and fitout as before and the crowd is as plentiful as I could have remembered it.
The menu was also the same: right on the same spot on one of the walls, written in Vietnamese, and no English translation. The food offerings are nothing but noodle soups and more noodle soups.
As usual, we ordered at the table and the food came in an instant. We ordered some medium and large noodle soups and special noodle soups. The medium size was already large, but it was only $1 more to upsize it to large. They were very fresh and delicious as always.
Before we left, I checked out the restroom and it was modern and clean, with automatic sliding doors as I remembered it.
