Apollonian Hotel

We came on a Sunday as we heard about the famous Sunday roast. Only we made it far too late and were the only people here. We loved the set up, a sprawling yard, a beautiful old hotel. We only had a couple of beers so didn't linger but will definitely come back at the right time!!

We booked the spit roast for Easter lunch. We were 9 adults and 3 children. I thought booking would enable the hotel to cater. Boy was I wrong. We arrived to find our table outside under a tree. I went to go and pay only to be told the desk dosen't open until 12.00pm. I went back to sit down. then noticed people queing I went up and queued to pay. When the heavens opened up. It poured down and there was no catering to wet weather. My husband went to order drinks only to be told that there were no jugs left, then they found a broken one and he was told no more jugs. On top of that we were only given 4 glasses as they did not have enough. The new management obviously got greedy and took all these bookings I understand there were 300 people. And they could not cater for them all. There was no wet weather plan and not enough glasses or jugs. We left. Thank goodness I did not prepay. I wom=nder if they had enough food for everyone. A really bad experience

Someone needs to train the cook staff how to deal with members of the public. After all people had their meals (chicken parmys and steak burgers) and almost had their meals finished. I ordered a steak cooked medium rare. I had the audacity to ask how far mine was off when I was spoken to like a naughty child by the cook staff. They informed me its a steak of course it takes a long time to cook. They then showed me the thickness telling me this is how thick it is so "have a think about it". The arrogance well and truly came flowing out of them.

After I finally received my meal my steak was clearly well done. Maybe if they had known how to cook a steak that's not well done it would have been out similar time to the other meals. Everyone else was friendly enough just the one arrogant cook staff to let the whole team down.

New management, in all my years of going there I've never been rude or disrespectful but today I was accused of doing just that and was yelled at in front of everyone there to get out. That is so disrespectful and immature.Nothing short of a written apology would redeem their behavior. Not recommended it's going backwards.Needs the managements back to give the place some hospitality. Prices up service down not recomended
