Went for a nice lunch and cider with partner. Food and drink was good. Good service. The interior design could be tweaked to push a more 'cozy' atmosphere, as it felt a little like a cafe. For a trip up the chilly mountain to a bar with a fireplace it would be nice for it to feel 'warmer'.
This place looks charming and has a lovely range of indoor and outdoor seating, it would likely be a pleasant place to enjoy a meal. I on the other hand visited for take away coffees to beak up the drive from Sydney to Bathurst. We ordered 2 coffees and waited (no exaggeration) 20 minutes. It could have been longer! The barista also seemed to be the manager and kept getting distracted with other things. The coffee was fine, but certainly not worth the wait. We were also charged $4.60 per cup which seemed a bit steep? On the plus side, the staff were generally pleasant and welcoming.
Awesome restaurant, superb food and great service. My husband & I have been there 1/2 dozen times over the past couple of years for lunch, dinner and even stayed overnight at one of the nearby B&B's. The picturesque 45 min drive to Bilpin is well worth it! We'd recommend it to anyone who appreciates sophisticated casual dining.
My wife and I had a really enjoyable experience at this quaint little restaurant. All other reviews aside, we thoroughly enjoyed our wedding anniversary dinner, eating delicious food. I had the swordfish and mussel chowder which was excellent in such cold weather. It was a massive portion but I prevailed, ready for my wood fired salmon, which was just as good. The fish was cooked perfectly; not overcooked, flaking easily and having that smokey aroma of the wood fire. Feeling pretty full by this stage, I braved dessert, which was a warm macadamia pudding. This was a light and fluffy pudding which complimented the whole meal. A couple of coffees to finish and we were done! Quite well priced, friendly-not-over-the-top staff and a lovely atmosphere made for a truly memorable celebration, thanks!
If I could give this place a zero rating I would though I'd like to start off by saying that the food was reasonably good. Now that's out the way lets get down to the nitty gritty - $20 or so dollars for a pizza is to much yes they were nice. On top of that we had to wait 90 minutes for the things to get delivered to our table!! They jam so many people into such a small place without the right size of kitchen to accommodate customers requirements. It was a really bad, bad experience. You would think that having to book a table would give you a degree of professionalism and a certain level of service but alas no. Would never, ever recommend it unless you like waiting for your food - the kids were going crazy with hunger.
