Art Gallery of NSW

Great place to visit if you're into art. But even if you are not, there must be something interesting that you can see in there. Love the museum, huge place, free entry, but you need to pay for some exhibitions. They also provide free guided tour at designated time.

From the popular Archibald Prize to Art Express and blockbuster exhibitions such as Picasso, the Art Gallery of NSW is a marvellous institution showcasing all forms of art. A stone's throw from Woolloomooloo Wharf, it's a great way to spend a morning or afternoon.

Sydney's fanciest gallery, it almost makes you whisper just from looking at it. Good restaurant and interesting programming. I visit regularly for the Archibald Prize, and for the odd exhibition beyond that. They even have a cinema where they host film festivals like the Antenna Documentary Festival.

I love this gallery, there have been some memorable exhibitions here! It does worry me that some really exciting exhibitions are going to Vic and Qld e.g Cindy Sherman. Not sure what the strategic agenda is but seems some of the cooler exhibitions are going to the other states.

Love this place - must visit in Sydney if you're into art. Even started taking my daughter here recently and she loved it.
