Normally I would not bother going into a sushi train when I know that it is not run by a japanese person...however I was quite surprised when I stumbled into this place after my friend's recommendation. Yes it is not japanese (koreans) but the fish was fresh, decent varieties, staff were friendly. I do have to say the price is a little overpriced considering the location and the authenticity, but it must be quite popular as it was packed at lunch time with all the tradies.
Irasshaimase! As you would expect to hear when you walk into any store or restaurant over in Japan. Welcome is what it translates into and Ashin is welcoming indeed. We made our short trip to the western Sydney suburb of Campsie to see what Ashin has to offer. A sushi train which captures your eyes as you first walk in the door and the somewhat simple setting of dark wooden tables, chairs and floor. For starters we had the 8 piece sashimi starting plate and a serving of gyoza. the sashimi was fresh and the gyoza was well portioned, 6 pieces to be exact. Eating the gyoza brought me back to Tokyo, Ashin got the flavours just right. Next dishes to come were the mains which we played it safe by choosing the ramen & chicken katsu-don. Everything you'd expect in a katsu-don is delivered but my husband couldn't say the same for his ramen choice.
