Baia The Italian
If it wasn't for the location, i probably would not go here. I have been here few times and every time we come here for a drink, the staff is rude, makin the experience quite bitter. We always order a bottle of wine with food, which I think is quite obvious that we will be dining in. However we have had number of staff members telling us to 'line up and order your drink at the bar' whenever we try to reorder a bottle. What happened to table service? What is the point of having so many floor staff walking around if they wont even take drink orders?
I'm a regular at Baia and typically go for the $30 sunset menus which come with 3 courses and a glass of wine or beer if you dine before a certain time. Great value for a waterfront location right on Darling Harbour. I've also come to Baia for a la carte dinners and have never been disappointed. Great desserts too!
It was a Saturday evening and this place was buzzing. The menu looked good so my husband and I decided to try out this restaurant.
It was busy but we didn't know how busy until it took 45 minutes to place a table to us.
Nice lounge chairs to sink into yet easy to raise to enjoy your meal.
We thought our food arrived too quickly given how busy they were, we became a little skeptical on its food quality.
We were pleasantly surprised by how tasty our meals were. Our starter of calamari was of generous portion. By the end of our mains, we'd had too much to have desserts.
It was great.
Recently hubby and I were looking for a venue to celebrate our wedding anniversary and having stumbled across a great deal for Baia thought we would give it a try. Upon entry the ambience is cosy and inviting with an old school flair. For warmer nights or luncheons the outdoor terrace overlooking the harbour is a delightful way to enjoy your meal and glass of champagne :) The presentation of the food is impeccable and many compliments to the highly skilled chefs that work their magic to create such a culinary delight. Although there are a number of signature dishes to order from I highly recommend the salt & pepper calamari with parmesan aioli to share for entree and the lamb rump for main. Yum!! We had such a lovely waiter who ensured that we celebrated in style. Thanks Baia team. We will definitely be back :)
