Bellini's Fine Italian Restaurant

We had a nice Friday night dinner at Bellini's with a group of four. Having said this, I can certainly relate to the reviews below! The decor is a bit tired but the restaurant is nicely presented and was comfortably warm (it was quite a cold night outside). The waiter seemed a little indifferent.... rote read out the specials but generally ticked all the boxes.

Garlic bread, in a basket, obviously counted how many at the table - one piece per person. Entree of stuffed mushrooms lacked any flavour. Kids' lasagna not cooked through. Side of vegetables looked unappetising - potatoes had a greasy looking cheese sauce. Service was poor. Did not enquire how our meal was. Children's dessert was not forthcoming before we left even though it was included in their meal. Seated at a table without serviettes and despite there being vacant tables we were put at the back of the restaurant. Was not offered the drinks menu.

Its a decent old-school Italian restaurant, but for a roaring local crowd customer service needs to be boosted. On a full night, with only one staff and the management catering for 25-odd tables, service was well short of expectations. Ordering entrees and mains at separate times was apparently an issue which was the first "really??" moment. Nice restaurant in the heart of St Ives. Friendly staff and great food. Service is always 5 star. Can get busy on weekends but we love this place and would not eat in any other local Italian.
