I believe it is vital for every pregnant woman to know about her birthing options and make choices with awareness and to have the support available to create an ideal birth team. It is also important for her partner to feel comfortable and to feel safe and supported as this can be an overwhelming experience for a first time father. I will get to know your partner and show him how he can support you effectively and how he will be able to share his presence in a way that makes him feel most comfortable.

I run BEER + BUBS ~ childbirth support workshops for Dads at the pub with fellow Doula, Paula Bruckard, on the last Monday of the Month at The Lion Hotel - Melbourne Street North Adelaide. Beer + Bubs is a one-night workshop at the pub where dads can learn how to support their partner through the birth of their baby. It helps men gain the practical knowledge they need to be involved in the births of their children in a positive way. Beer + Bubs is perfect for first time fathers who don't know what they're in for as well as those going back for a second or third round who weren't well prepared the first time. My husband and I had Helen for the birth of our second baby which resulted in an emergency c-section. Helen is the most amazing person, full of life and enthusiasm! Her passion and commitment is exactly what we were looking for. Her experience and knowledge was extremely useful, particularly after surgery. We really felt that Helen went above and beyond with her care for us and we especially loved the way she connected with our older child (3yrs).
My husband now tells everyone to get a Doula and is quick to give out Helen's name. He is often heard saying...."It's not whether you can afford a doula, it's whether you can afford not to". That was certainly the case for us!
For the birth of my second son I wanted to achieve a drug free natural waterbirth and wanted the best of the best when it came to support. I didn't have a doula at the birth of my first son and knew that second time around this is something that I really wanted.

I am so happy we found Helen because our experience of birth would have been so different without her. She helped us prepare for the natural birth we wanted and would come to our house and spend as much time with us as we needed. I ended up having an emergency c-section, but I have fond memories of the time I spent laboring prior to that thanks to her support and her knowledge. She was amazing during the c-section too and made sure I got skin to skin and breastfed my son immediately after birth. She's very passionate about what she does and her clients always come first ! She really takes the time to get to know her clients and their wishes. I would absolutely want her there the next time around !
I had a VBAC with Helen from Belly, Birth and Beyond and she was absolutley amazing. The pre natal support I received was amazing, I felt so supported and pampered and also extremely comfortable to tell her what I wanted and needed from her. She really bent over backwards to help me and my partner to get the birth we wanted.
I would definitely have Helen at my next birth, she has an amazing giving nature and you get way more than what you pay for!
