I just had my baby on this hospital, everything is wonderful, all the team, doctors and Midwifes. I really like the way they treat you, as a human person. Food is good, facilities are all good, except maternity is too far away from Newborn Special Care, also there is an alarm beeping the whole night in the maternity ward, so nobody sleeps. I know this alarm is to tell midwifes that someone need assistance, but it would be much wiser to set this alarm beeping only on the entrance to be heard just the midwifes, not the entire corridor and all the rooms as well, all moms need to sleep a little bit, só for God’s sake someone needs to do something about it!
I am about to give a birth in BT hospital, never recommended, Midwives are much better than Doctors. They are caring premoms with warm heart, but drs there are cold blood and very rude. Never be hooked by Drs clinic, please by midwives. EVERYWHERE, midwives are much better than doctors for birthing.
Finally had our baby and I must say, the care I received during labor was unreal. The midwives in the labor unit were wonderful and did everything they could to make sure I had a smooth delivery. However, maternity was not quite the same and the reception I received from the midwives on this level was less than impressive. My delivering midwife (the angel that she was), had booked me into a semi-private room, with only two beds (one for myself). On arriving to maternity, we were told that the room had been given away (despite the early booking) and the nurses were horribly rude to both myself and my midwife. To make things more painful, I was put into a room with 3 other women, three other screaming babies and my bed was besides the cleaners cupboards so had people coming and going all through the night. I spent the night there and checked out early as I was exhausted to the point of cranky. I realise this is a public service, but it's the health and care side ...read more
Due to our health insurance having a 9month wait on Pregnancy related cover, we had to go to our local public hospital, which just happened to be Blacktown hospital. I have been thoroughly unimpressed with the admin side of things here. The systems are outdated and jurassic in nature. Every one of my antenatal visits has been messed up because someone has not put me 'into Hospital's system' or come outside to check if there are any women waiting. I've waited 40 minutes for my appointment once, which I thought was bad, only to speak to a friend who had waited over 3 hours. What's worse is parking is a nightmare, with signage being haphazard and unclear. Called Blacktown Hospital and was put through to the wrong section and again the call just rung out. In the end I decided to just rock up to other center and wing it as it was at the end of my work day and on the way home! Despite the admin/parking issues the midwives are pretty lovely here ...read more
They no longer have a nursery for the newborn babies so how do they expect mothers to recover a long labour? I asked a nurse and they said they didn't want to pay for extra staff for the nursery. I got no rest, 4 mothers all in the same room with 4 babies crying all thru the night. I know its a public hospital but its also a place where people need to receive care and to recover.
