From humble beginnings (a red van parked opp. Lake Burley Griffin), Brodbuger has a reputation as being a Canberra 'institution' for producing delish burgers. The new store in Kingston (situated behind the Glassworks near the markets) is a fantastic place to grab a beer, burger and chips to the same, if not better standard than the offerings from the van. Be prepared for a lengthy wait at times, however, as the kitchen in the new locale appears to be smaller than the interior of the van! The wait is almost always worth the wait though, especially for options like the grilled lamb burger with minted yogurt sauce or the plain-ol' beef burger (which is anything but). Gets quite busy on warm nights with most tables being taken, but is conveniently only 5 min walk from the Kingston foreshore which has lots of seats by the lake, so grab yourself a take away and a beer to enjoy while you wait -- and wait -- for your delicious burger. Bon appetit...
Fantastic burgers, nice service staff, LONG WAIT. After years in the food service business I know that a kitchen should never take an hour, or even close to, to get burgers off the grill and onto a plate. My husband and I love Brodburger, they have the best blue cheese burger this side of America. I just wish the management would get the wait time under control.
From small beginnings (a red caravan by Lake Burley Griffin) to their new fancy digs inside the Canberra Glassworks, the trendy, friendly staff and mouth-watering burgers have been a consistent delight. Beef, chicken, vege and fish options, FOUR types of cheese to choose from (blue, brie, swiss or cheddar). Add chips for an extra $2.50, or grab coffee, cake or a beer! Only downside is that it's super popular (especially friday/saturday nights) and you can be in for a long wait (up to an hour) for your burger - 100% worth it in my opinion! An absolutely MUST if you're in Canberra!
