Brunetti City Square
Brunetti has been part of the pastry and coffee industry since 1985 and its experience is carried well into its City Square store. Brunetti specialises in serving great-tasting coffee and Italian melted hot chocolate along with an extensive display of Danish tarts, small and designer cakes, pastries, traditional biscotti and other sweet delights. The café and restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and for a more filling meal, a range of seafood, pasta and meat mains are available from the restaurant menu. Catering is available as well as delivery of special occasions and children’s festive cakes.

I have been going to Brunettis for years at the Carlton location. It was great when they had opened one just a few block away from my work, right next to The Westin hotel. Its quite a small caf at this location, with few options to select from, however great for a coffee and sweet. Although they also provide a menu for savoury options however I havent as yet tried. You can almost sum up this franchise as a sweet heaven with pastries, sweets of all shapes, sizes and colour. Well presented behind the clear glass cabinets. At times its quite difficult to know where to start with all their options, of course youre always going to have youre usual favourites. Ive always enjoyed their cannolli, perfect crispy pastry with custard filling just perfectly made. Another favourite are the macaroons. Their cakes made to order are also exceptional. Hard to compare to the original Brunetti in Carlton, as the one in City Square is a much smaller version and there is only outdoor seating. However, the coffee I had one Sunday morning I found rather overpriced for a large and actually pretty average tasting too. But on the plus side, I had an amazing pastry with ricotta, sfogliatelle, I think. It was heavenly! As for the service, I would describe it as perfunctory.
