Bushman Hotel

Okay, this pub is a lot closer to the centre of Gawler, but I was really disappointed that they did not have any food on offer (other than finger food). From what I could see all they had here were pokies and a decent beer garden. Actually, it is the beer garden that gives this place a bit more than a bleah rating. Okay, the owner was okay, and I suspect that the beer garden fills up with people who want a beer after work, though the only thing that seems to keep it going are the pokies. However, due to its proximity to the railway station, and also the nice old building, I probably would still be willing to stop in here for a beer or two, though I probably would stay well away from the pokies. Actually, come to think of it, I do quite like how a part of the bar does open out into the beer garden.

Food is amazingly good and the service is quite fast. Staff have always been able to get us a table for a meal even at their busiest times. Love the relaxed atmosphere, it is my preferred pub in Gawler.

Went here for a birthday celebration and won't make the same mistake again. Had to wait 30+ minutes for our booked table to be organised and told to get drinks at bar. Food was overdue, overpriced and undercooked. Kangaroo had a wierd taste and was sent back to the kitchen who didn't seem to care about the feedback and told us just to eat it. Wait staff was clumsy and spilt red wine all down a guests' white shirt and all over his just served meal (which they fortunately cleaned to their credit) but told couldn't have the same meal again due to cooking time. At the end of the night dessert was refused as the 'kitchen was now closed'. Never going there again!

Very surprised. Tonight I had the best meal out in a very long time [& I eat out a lot]. The quality of the seafood & especially the steak was outstanding. Service was good also. Price was average to above average compared with the run of the mill pub, but this was no run of the mill food. Excellent wine selection & very affordable. 5*'s I'm going back tommorrow.

Dining room: excellent food, atmosphere and service at slightly higher than usual pub prices but well worth it for the quality. Little touches like salad which was not excruciatingly cold made the day. Main bar: shaky floor and wobbling tables distract from food but still a good feed.
