This place was rather nice, though I’m not all that sure if I can actually call it a bar. Well, I probably can since it was open late, and they did serve me a beer without insisting that I also purchase something to eat (though that probably only happens in France). Mind you, it was pretty crowded, but then again it was Byron Bay, so that shouldn’t be all that surprising either.
I've previously been to this restaurant and had a fantastic dining experience, however went last week and it was really poor. Ordered a 9 hour slow cooked beef dish that was watery and totally lacking in flavour. And to top it off I ordered a cocktail and it came out in a jar.. that is pathetic when I pay $17 for a cocktail I want it in a stylish glass. If I wanted to look like a hillbilly and drink out of a jar I could have stayed at home and saved the money. 1.5 stars for the decor only.
Dinner at Byron Fresh is a very enjoyable casual dining experience. The decor and the open style of the building make the restaurant atmosphere very pleasant and relaxing to be in despite the fact that it can get quite busy. It really has captured the feeling of what people come to Byron Bay for beach, relaxation and great food. Staff are really attentive and the menu is delicious with something for everyone. The only downside for me was the buskers outside were quite loud, but it's Byron Bay so it is to be expected so it is all part of the experience.
