I find it appaling that this business has a 86% postive review score as it is largely overestimated in terms of quality of food. Having an Indian girlfriend and mother, and having Migrated from England (Where Indian restaurants are a many), I have a long history of indulging in Indian Curries and can easily determine what's really good and what's really ...read more
I am a Australian and have ordered take away now from this restaurant for over three years.
I have also travelled and ate "real" Indian curries from both North and South.
Cafe Kuma's curries seem in my opinion that of the South of India and taste very much like the Kerala region. They do not have the strength of taste from the North provinces.
Let me address your comments
1. My take away orders normally take around 25 minutes
2. I have seen their bags of curry, the kilos of peanuts and other ingredients that they use to make their curries. They are not Coles / Woolies. Maybe due to the high amount of peanut they use in their curries it has a more commercial taste.
3. I have seen them hand make their nan bread dough and witnessed them rolling it out and baking it in their oven.
As a regular take out buyer, 1 time diner, I am impressed with Kumas and the way he takes time out to pay attention to all his customers even on the busiest of nights. We regular have free curries/naans thrown in with our take out orders too. Great service at very reasonable prices
The food is always fantastic, and we are treated like family every time we visit! The best curries I've ever had :)
The owner has particular days where he donates all proceeds from that day to local charities such as schools and hospitals. This restaurant is a wonderful part of the community.
