Really great service, this venue can handle a crowd and offer a sensational view. We had a hens party start off here, with great success. Staff were sure to keep our glasses full of champagne, they also took care of anyone not drinking, offering other beverages on the spot before they were even asked. The atmosphere here of an evening is really pleasant even when packed full of patrons. If you feel the St. Kilda vibe has gotten a little worn, here is the best and closes retreat to relaxation.
Like many St Kilda locals, I was very sad to see Soul Mama close. Captain Baxter has taken over the space and what a wonderful space it is- 180 degree views overlooking St Kilda Beach and the bay. The food is interesting- tapas-like servings and nicely-presented. It has a sea-front feel. I did enjoy the prawns very much. However, the noise level, even early evening, was insane! It was impossible to talk and the staff had to strain to hear. Some of the dishes were great, some not-so-great. The prices were a little on the high side too. Some of the items from the A la Carte menu were not available. I don't know if service was a bit slow or if the noise was distressing me, but a more chilled-out ambience would help.
