Charing Cross Hotel

I’m not really a big fan of the flashy pubs, but this one does have a bit of a charm about it. If you like fancy then this place has it in bucket loads, and I have to admit that I did really like the beer garden. In fact, it is the beer garden that would tempt me to come back here again if I happened to be in the area. However, the style isn’t really something that grabs me, though it actually isn’t all that expensive.

My family came to visit last week and I took my dad there for his birthday. The food was beautifully prepared and the Chef has definitely done a great job in creating a delicious menu. However the service was appalling. Our wait staff was arrogant, rude and extremely pushy. We were waiting ages to get a drink so we thought wed just go up to the bar to get one- considering we could literally see the bar from our table. The wait staff proceeded to chase after my father to the bar and scolded him in front of other patron, proclaiming that the restaurant has table service. My dad was very apologetic and felt quite embarrassed. We then went back to our table when the waiting came over again and reiterated their point to us, as if they had not made it clear enough. No Names has recently moved from Beach Road, Bondi into the Charing Cross Hotel. With the good food, outdoor area, beer and TAB it's a great pub to catch up with friends.

This is a great pub the only down fall is the food. Not sure if the kitchen is open but you can order food from the Thai next door and they bring it in to the pub for you to eat. It has a great Tab area and plenty of plasmas with all the different sports showing. Great place to have a few drinks with the guys, but still pleasant enough that I can go with the missus and watch a bit of footy.
