A Surfers landmark. No one knows how long Charlies has been in Cavill Ave ,but its a very long time. The place is often packed with dinners from early morning to late at night.
If its a milkshake to a bowl of pasta its on the menu ,most people who have been to QLD know Charlies, still stop on by and reflect.

After waking up from a long night, it was almost lunch time and the weather was at it's best for the day. Up Cavill ave once again to find a nice restaurant where one could soak up the lovely sun. I have to admit that it was hard picking a place to eat as the businesses up here seemed to price their meals very competitively. We probably walked up and down the avenue twice reading menus before deciding to eat at Charlie's. We were seated and not long after placed our order. Our drinks were served almost instantly as the restaurant only had about six tables to serve. Didn't think to question myself about the restaurant. Roughly about 15 minutes later, my steak and husband's chicken schnitzel arrived. Both dishes were accompanied with a serving of chips and salad. The presentation looked simple and clean. Unfortunately, my steak even though cooked medium, was very tough to eat. I ended swapping my steak with my husband's and concluded, i get what I ...read more
Came here on my anniversary with my partner, the place was decorated nicely but that was about the only thing I could say was remotely good. The food was expensive and the serving size was tiny, not at all worth the price you pay. The waiter who served us did not understand two of my drink orders and therefore I received the wrong drink twice. We then had TWO charity collectors walking in and around the restaurant asking for money, now I have no issue with giving money to charity at any time, but to be interrupted whilst having our anniversary dinner made me feel extremely uncomfortable. Do not recommend.
Food was o-Kay, the apple and rhubarb crumble was a bit sad, the crumple looked almost anaemic, so I asked hem to put it under the grill to get some sort of golden colour to it, the ice cream is a bit weird, seriously, it tastes like crystallised ice cream that gets left out on the bench and then put back into the freezer, then got put through a Mr Whippy machine, heck, just go down to supermarket and buy a 2L, at least it'll taste good. The service is always good, can't fault that one bit, prompt, always cheerful, and the price good...overall a 3stars, mainly because nothing else is really open late, and I need crumble, however bad the ice cream is...
I came on a Monday night and the place was relatively quiet. The decor needs a freshen up. Service was on the better side of good with prompt friendly service. I ordered the chicken bacon pizza. Nice, fresh, hot delicious and good size for what you pay. Would I come back here? Probably not once tried but can do worse and have. I would try it if I was you.
