Get amongst the action in the heart of St Kilda. Prepare to wait for a table though as the 'no reservations' policy applies to everyone including loyal regulars who wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. The dining-room is informal with efficient, slick wait staff. There is also a back bar that offers antipasto platters, cocktails and a drinks menu to sample while you wait. Chef Virginia Redmond delights in creating dishes from fresh produce that are full of pure flavours. Try the risotto with mushrooms and truffle oil or the juicy steaks which the restaurant is famous for.

The menu is fairly limited and very expensive. The space is also quite cramped which makes intimate dinners impossible. I came with a vegetarian friend who couldn't find anything they liked on the menu. To be honest, I had trouble finding something I really wanted to order. The lovely Italian cuisine I remember seemed to be gone. The food was ok.
