I used these guys because they were local and I live 5 mins away! I was pretty upset to see my bill included a $75 a call out fee! Work may have been OK but they should not take advantage of the local community that supports them with a riduculous call out fee!

Whilst our company address is listed as St Kilda East, we are a mobile business, and have a number of handymen living in different suburbs, servicing a 15km radius of the CBD. Our callout fee is a standard charge applied to all jobs. It mainly covers associated business costs, tool and materials preparation, and running time with getting to different addresses. City Handyman is a small start up and we are working towards building City Handyman into a business with more handy people on the ground that can operate on a more targeted and environmentally friendly local level. Fantastic company! Replied promptly to my online query. Discussed my needs in detail over the phone and suggested the need for the safest paint (as I am pregnant). Fitted in the job at the first opportunity that suited me. Carpenter was excellent - did an exceptional and beautiful job, was very pleasant and found a more efficient way to do the job and hence lowered the cost. Best handyman service I have ever used. Will use City Handyman for all jobs in future. As a single woman I am very pleased to have found a handyman service I can trust. Thanks!
The handyman (Barry) came out to Malvern East at exactly the time specified and spent the whole morning working through a large list of odd jobs that I'd accumulated. He installed a dryer, levelled our washing machine, applied sealant in the kitchen/bathroom, fixed our front gate so it opened, fixed the garage door handle, installed a whiteboard, fixed an internal lock, fixed a cupboard door, installed a neat manhole in the hallway cupboard for access under the house. He also provided lots of advice for me on how I could do some handyman tasks and was very friendly with my children who wanted to see everything that was happening and ask lots of questions.
Before coming out they quoted a price ($395 for half day callout to M.E.) and that was exactly what I paid (+$7.60 for the sealant/other materials required for the job).
Highly recommended service.
