Casual dining at its best, Sofia Restaurant in South Morang is a relaxed, family friendly restaurant serving the finest pizza and Italian food around. With a take away pizza service available as well, Sofia Restaurant is licensed and open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner.
I remember walking all the way from South Morang station once just to go and check this place out, and a part of me still wonders why I actually did that. A part of me was actually expecting some really new, flashy pub however I was actually quite surprised to discover that this place has actually been around for quite a while. It seems as if there are a number of pubs along Plenty Road that is designed to cut the monotony of the drive to Whittlesea. Anyway, even though it is a pretty old looking place, it has now been transformed into you standard suburban pub, though unlike some places they do have resident bands and other shows. It isn't one of the best places that I've been to but it's okay. Oh, I also found one occasion that the staff can be incredibly unpleasant, but I have come to expect that from places like this.
As soon as we got there I ordered a fish and chips for my daughter, I had to peel the thick layer of batter off as it was just unbearably greasy and she still refused to eat it even tho she loves fish, cant really blame her, the chips were also a little stale like and cold.
For my entree I had half a dozen Kirkpatrick oysters which were gritty and very unclean other wise they could have been nice but the price you pay for ...read more
We went there on Saturday night (5/11/11). Totally appalling. There were feral children everywhere, including a child aged about 5 squealing all over the restaurant area. She was spoiling it for other children too.
We were seated in extremely uncomfortable chairs - my partner and I both had the circulation cut off in our legs from sitting there for the time it took us ...read more
Went to dinner at commercial tonight (Thursday). Ordered the veal shank (big mistake) Literally got a huge bone in the middle of the plate with a tiny bit of meat on the side!! Staff were lovely. Took the meal back & i ordered the Mediterranean Parma instead (Thursday special) Got a very ordinary parma (no Mediterranean in sight) but couldnt be bothered telling them again. Daughter had the chick schnitzel. Needed all her strength to cut through it. Obviously microwaved 1 too many times. Other child had kids fish n chips, OK and hubby had very ordinary spag marinara. Staff were lovely but Management and Chefs need to take a good look at their meals. Everywhere you looked, there were tables with half eaten meals. Obviously we were not the only ones that were not impressed with the meals.
