Coochie Island Resort
Accommodation and Licenced Cafe and RestaurantCoochie Island Resort is 13, one and two bedroom units and a large Guest House and villa set amid lush, tropical style gardens only metres from the calm waters and golden sands of Coochiemudlo Island's Main Beach. The Resort features a fully licenced restaurant, Bali-inspired outdoor bar, magnificent palm-fringed swimming pool .. Coochie's relaxed, casual atmosphere makes it the perfect place for families to swim fish and explore or for couples to indulge in secluded beach picnics and romantic sunset walks.
This island is great for a day trip but not over night! You have to rely on great weather to take advantage of the boating hire available on the island otherwise all you can do is fish! There is a barge so you can take your car over if so desired, however it is limited to the sea conditions as it cannot cope with "choppy" conditions.
The ferry ride over to the island is a easy experience and the only positive experience i had over the weekend. The men in charge where very friendly and ...read more
My fiance and I stayed at Coochie resort last night with one of the couple's retreat online vouchers. We actually had a really great time. Our room had a real islandy feel to it, it had everything we needed and it was nice and clean. The aloha bar and restaurant was awesome; nice variety of drinks to choose from, food was really yummy and it had a good vibe. There were lots of couples around and from what we could tell everyone seemed happy enough. We read all the reviews online a couple of days ago and were terrified it was going to be a disaster. After staying there, I'd probably say you will have a much better time going in being laid back and happy just to relax and chill out as opposed to expecting a 5* resort on the Whitsundays. We'll be back one day.
Wouldnt recommend this resort to anyone. The facilities that this 'resort' provided classifies more of a backpacker lodge, or hostel, definitely NOT A HOLIDAY RESORT. Their TV is an old analogue, with no digital box, thus no channels were found. Shower made largely pipping noise. VERY limited ''kitchen'. Poor phone reception. Runs out of hot shower water. Would not go again even if its ...read more
Ok to stay here. The accommodation is very basic. The meals were nice but the kid's drinks (lemonade!) took 45 mins to finally come!!! They had finished their meals and there still were no drinks. :(
There were 4 of us staying, but there was only breakfast for 3.
Overall relaxing, but you need to slow right down to the 70s to fit in with the speed of the service here, otherwise you could get pretty frustrated.
After visiting Coochie Island Resort for the first time recently, I felt it imperative that I write a review to warn others about this resort before they book their holiday / wedding. This resort is set in lovely surroundings and the gardens are very well kept. The accommodation however is very outdated and desperately in need of a makeover.
My family travelled with a large wedding party that booked out almost every room in the resort. This booking was made several months ahead of time and confirmed in person, two days prior to our arrival however when we arrived we were told that rooms had accidently been over-booked and the resort was two rooms ...read more
