This camp ground is on private property and stretches about 400 metres along the river, but with only about two or three access points. It is a pretty stretch of river and would be good for canoeing and fishing, but what could be a great camping experience is mostly wrecked by the attitude of the owner. He insists on charging an extra $40 if you want to light your own camp fire! So if you don't want to sit in the dark at night it will cost you $80 for your family to camp here. A heck of a lot of money for what is just rough bush camping with distant and basic facilities. The brochure says "Do not bring firewood of any kind. Firewood for use during your stay can be purchased from the Country River Camp office". What it does not say is that you are also not allowed to collect and burn any of the ample fallen gum tree sticks from the camp ground to have a cheery little fire to sit around at night. What a kill joy, and what a rip off !
