Stopped here for breakfast recently and was very happy with the food and service. The staff were helpful and polite, the food and coffee was served quickly, everything was hot and the meal was a lot larger than we thought it would be - and for the price was great value. We're not up that way often, but next time we are - we'll be back!
Location is great and the ambience is fantastic but that's where it stops. Having worked in the hospitality industry I always leave a tip but not at Depz. The consensus at the table was the food was poor, the staff were sort of ok (not good enough to warrant a tip) but it was the value which could not be overlooked. Think of it this way it's like Sydney harbourside restuarants which aren't interested in return business and charge alot.
Here's a tip, ask a couple of locals about Depz "before" dining there, we quizzed a couple of people and their responses were amusing to say the least
Was there on Sat 6th August, there were 4 of us. Main gripe was the surcharges, none of which are listed on their website.
Corkage - $2 per person - Fair enough as the majority of their wines were $40+
Saturday Surcharge - $2 person - Lucky it wasn't a public Holiday it would have been $4 person
Cutlery Surcharge - !!!! $1.10 per item
Apart from the surcharges, the staff were less than accommodating, had to ask for a wine cooler, had to explain that one person wasn't drinking, even though that was ignored and still appeared on the bill.
My steak was ordinary
Do yourself a favor and skip Depz bistro level at best
Great to be an anonymous reviewer but get your facts right - $40 bottle for wine - Depz is a BYO and has been for 21 years ! !
