Dick's Hotel

Went for Mother's Day lunch. The food was bad and the service was just as bad. So disappointing. With all the great pubs in Balmain was so sorry we picked Dick's. Never again.

I have come to discover that when a pub isn’t on a main road then it is going to be in all likelihood a really cool pub. Mind you, this pub is in Balmain, which means that it is technically out of the way since it is a peninsula that sticks out into the harbour, and there isn’t a proper main road running through it. Anyway, this pub is just off Darling Street, and it has an awesome atmosphere, namely because of the beer garden. On interesting thing that I have started to notice is that pubs are starting to welcome dogs, though they are confined to the smokers area. As for the pub, there is a pretty good selection of beers on tap, however it is the atmosphere, and the beer garden, that really impresses me with the place. Oh, and also the fact that you can bring dogs into the pub, even if it is only in the smokers area.

Dicks is one of the larger pubs in Balmain and the must go to venue on Anzac Day for two up. A recent renovation of the courtyard has made Dicks more yuppie friendly, but that aside its a great option and convenient location for mates travelling from the city with a 442/441 bus stop pretty much at the front door

The Jambalaya pizza is absolutely delicious! I would order it again... and again.
