Dr Ric Porter

A founding director of IVFAustralia, Dr Ric Porter is a highly experienced fertility specialist and high profiled medical commentator. Dr Porter's work is mainly involved with Assisted Reproductive Technology, such as IVF, ovulation induction, artificial insemination and male-related infertility.

Dr Porter was an integral part of the team at Royal North Shore Hospital that helped conceive and deliver the first IVF children in NSW, and as such is considered one of the pioneers in fertility treatment in this country. Since then he has developed a very busy private obstetric and infertility practice in St Leonards.

He is renowned by patients for his approachability, and you may also recognise him as the medical doctor on Channel 9's Today Show.

Dr Porter graduated in 1978, gaining his MBBS at the University of New South Wales after also training in gynaecology and obstetrics at Royal North Shore Hospital Sydney and Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town. He completed further training in reproductive medicine and IVF at the Middlesex and Cromwell Hospitals in London.

His postgraduate qualifications include Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (1985), Diploma in Diagnostic Ultrasound (1989), Certificate in the Sub-specialty of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (1994), and Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists (1996). ...read more
