I was that impressed by this restaurant that I wanted to leave a review. And was surprised to see such low ratings on truelocal. I feel that this forum gets used only by people with a Critisism some times, which is a pity as I'm sure there would by thousands of very satisfied diners who ate there. The food was amazing, we had a table of six and tried a mix of dishes that were all very good. Our meals were that impressive that we passed on complements to the chef, to be told he is from Hong Kong. That explains the authentic taste that my guests were amazed could be found in Australia. Excellent food if your ever in Apollo Bay. Pity some people believe being a food 'Critic' -means you have to Criticize!
Ultra simple food lacking any taste. Just bland Asian food. Avoid if possible.
We do regret your arrival at 9pm, 5 minutes prior to the sit down restaurant closing and being unable to provide a sit down meal as the only restaurant still open at that hour. We also regret having to inform you that all apollo bay restaurants generally close around 8:30pm given it is a small town. The food was nice, very generic. Was extremely disappointed on the size of the large rice, it was adequate but normally have larger on Melbourne.
Was very disappointed on the price, a little higher than most places, but we have found most places in Apollo Bay like to charge more than most places.
We are pleased you enjoyed the food at our establishment. As feedback on some of you specific points, the size of fried rice comes in either a small or large, the large being 700mls in volume. Our sizing and price is based on the rice being generally a side dish to one of the 300 or more dishes we have on the take away menu. We find most customers will order entrees, soups and rice, hence a larger 1080ml for a main meal sized fried rice would be way too big for them.
