Great experience and great seafood at Drunken Admiral in Hobart Tasmania. The service is also great and staff were very professional. They gave a few suggestions which helped us picked a few items on the menu to share. My husband really enjoyed the oysters so he ate most of it. I like how the theme of the restaurant is about ships and boats as it gives it a great feel and atmosphere when dining. Would recommend for those visiting hobart.
This place presented really well - great decorations and nautical as they come. It was very tight, though, not much room between u and the next table. I would have added a star if it didn't feel so much like I was squashed into a cattle truck. Food was great and the service was exceptional. Our waiter was fantastic!
I always get excited when going to the drunken admiral but often come away feeling disappointed. Food is always good but so far my favourite has been the eye filet and mashed potato. I recommend that people avoid ordering things such as the fish fry as they will leave feeling full, but knowing they they just paid a bomb for a meal they could have gotten for under half the price down at the docks. The salad bar could make the meal more exciting , but the tables are jammed in so tight that it is an effort to try and get out. I feel sorry for the wait staff. The staff are always professional but most of the times I get the feeling that they really do not want to be there and can't wait for us to leave because they have better places to be. Not something I have come to expect in Tasmania.
This is a great place to have a Tasmanian sea food experience - delicious flavours, fresh fish and a creative menu combine to make it a wonderful taste experience. If you really want to try a bit of everything they offer a tasting plate which is to die for! On the down side it is relatively expensive and they do not offer much at all for those who do not eat seafood. If you are after a true Tassie treat check out the kitsch joys of the Drunken Admiral.
