It has been a while since I last parked at Eastgate shopping centre. Parking at Westfield Bondi Junction has always been free for 2 hours which is a lot longer than what they offered, but I was quite surprised that rather than matching up with the competitor they decided to remove the free parking with fees starting from $1 for the first hour.
This definitely breaks the deal especially since the parking building is relatively old and has a very vintage, dark ambiance. Most of the lanes are also one way and it can feel like a maze sometimes. There are also A LOT OF speed humps in the parking area, perhaps one for every 5 seconds, which I guess only adds to the proof that this parking area is not safe enough for pedestrians that they have to resort to this. Going in and out of the parking area is also quite difficult as there are no red lights and the streets outside are normally busy.
I just want to say Eastgate; hang your head in shame; a bunch of us made our way to Eastgate Bondi Junction to see how you would have decorated to celebrate the local team; The Roosters, getting into the Grand Final; I seem to remember previous years you did just that but this time zilch, nada, disgusting, one would never have known that they were in there; Westfield wasn't any better. It takes a lot to get into the grand final and for the local team to get there was amazing and should have been celebrated by the locals. The talk at work; at the game; at the club was how disgusted people were at the total lack of interest. Shame on you.
