Super pleasant and efficient staff. We (a table of 6) were made most welcome from the mkment we stepped in. Advice on beers was top notch. Service was excellent all-round. The food presentation was novel and quite pleasing tk the eye. A minor gripe - we felt the food was expensive for what we got. A major gripe - the quality was poor. The fish was dry and didn't taste fresh, and the scallops were and (particularly) the calamari were quite unremarkable (the latter quite forgettable). Having traveled around Tasmania we had bought much better, fresher fish and chips, for considerably less. I hate writing a bad review, but I wouldn't return. Sorry
Really disappointing experience. Turned up with teenage kids and grandparents in tow after just flying in from Melbourne. It was late (8.50pm) and we were starving. Had a lovely wait staff who helped us move tables around to seat everyone and then gave us menus to look at. A couple of minutes later staff came back and said we had better hurry and order as the kitchen closes at 9pm. No sooner had staff said that then their management called them over and told them and then us that it was too late and they wouldn't serve us...basically kicked us out despite at least 5 other tables of customers still eating their dinner. Who would have thought 6 adult meals was worth turning away? We rushed over to other restaurant where I gather they also close at 9pm but stayed open so we could get a feed.
Friendly service, the venue is casual, but warm and inviting. We ordered the platter for 2, but shared it amongst 4. The staff brought plates and some warm water (for our hands). The food came out surprisingly quickly - less than 15 minutes after we ordered! The food was fresh and there were lots of different types of seafood, from cooked octopus, crumbed squid, fresh prawns and Bruny Island oysters. It was satisfying but I have to admit it didn't meet our expectations for a $90 platter, as I've had better for that price. Considering it is in the heart of the tourist area of Hobart it is expected there would be a premium. There were lots of people lining up to eat after we left so it is definitely a popular place.
