In 2012, Flinders Hotel opened its boutique accommodation Quarters, adjacent to the historic hotel building. This place has lovely clean rooms but they are almost identical and yet priced so very differently. The place is built without noise dampeners/ sound proofing so I could easily hear the nut jobs running up stairs along the corridoors. But none of us were impressed when we were told that the only breakfast available was a cold one, only to see other guests half an hour later with bacon, fried eggs and such.
What an incredibly disappointing night and a test of anyone's patience! Granted it was the Monday night of a long weekend but the crowds had gone home and the restaurant was not busy. As staff continually advised us - they had had a very busy weekend. So much so that the list of what they had run out of was almost longer than what was left on the menu. Ok by us, we wanted paella and a steak - both of which were still available when we ordered. Sadly what lets this place down big time is the staff and the service. We waited so long for our meals that we ended up paying for our drinks and walking out after close to an hour of waiting. On telling the management how long we had been waiting they tried to tell us that we had only been waiting 20 mins, lucky for us the staff who had taken our order 55 minutes earlier and happened to be standing next to us at the time reminded the management that staff had been told to hold off submitting our order because ...read more
