You know it's fancy when the toilet has a Dyson hand dryer lol
Came for lunch and the first thing I notice is the giant squid painting they have on the wall,a nice touch and the modern decor is also what stood out
Food wise ordered the pork belly entree
The wife was really impressed but while I liked it I found the pork skin to be salty
Mains I had the swordfish and the wife had the the lamp rump
She felt the swordfish tasted better though
I liked the broth that came with the swordfish and it goes well with the clams but I had didn't expect the purée to be spicy
The lamb rump, she felt there was too much fatty meat on it but isn't rump in general fatty? The beans/lentils that came with it was nice
Food took a while to come out
Service wise while staff was attentive but our mains took a while to come out
My wife loved it but I was expecting more
Well, I have to say that I didn't mind this place at all. It seemed to have a really nice and relaxed vibe about it. Okay, I wouldn't call this place an incredibly trendy place, but it wasn't a really flash place either. Rather it just seemed to be one of those ordinary, but quite nice, pubs that you seem to find around the place. The food prices weren't all that bad, and the staff were really friendly. Mind you, when I came here, even though it was the middle of the day on a Thursday, there still seemed to be a few people sitting around having a drink and a bite to eat, even though it is hidden away in the suburban back streets. This is one of those places that you do need to know about to be able to find it because it isn't exactly one of those places that you would accidentally discover while walking down the street. Oh, and it's also one of those places that still have the stools around the bar.
The Four in Hand, a true Paddington Pub! Perfect for a knock off drink or a cozy bottle of red on a Sunday arvo... This ideal winter pub has an intimate vibrant atmosphere and also serves brilliant food. Had a great bottle of red with a perfectly cooked steak...definitely get involved...
The Four in Hand hotel is one of Paddingtons greatest hidden gems. Set down in the back end of Paddington, you will be hard pressed to find a non local in here as you would not know it is even there. On Anzac day, this pub is famous for holding 2 up competitions and there is not room for one more person in the bar, truly a great day out. The bar food is amazing as it shares a kitchen with one of the best restaurants in Paddington. I usually go for the steak which comes with a butter barnaise to spread on as you please. If you really want to make a day of it, then I suggest you try the restaurant which is the cosiest place to be on a wet winters day. They have been rated very highly by many food critics and I am yet to hear a bad word. The bar staff are very friendly and there is plenty of space in the bar so it is perfect for catching up with a group of friends.
FOUR IN HAND DINING ROOM
From outside, you would not expect this laid-back pub to be home to the fantastic, white table-clothed, hatted restaurant that hides inside. The Four in Hand Dining Room is located just behind the main bar, interestingly, with windows overlooking the common bar area. I ate lunch here on a Saturday with my farmer dad and brother who are visiting from the country. To start we order a sourdough bread basket to nibble on. Flavoursome, crunchy and perfectly baked with fresh butter alongside. For mains I order the seared kingfish with crispy squid and a chickpea puree. It is perfection. The fish is cooked perfectly and the flavours are fantastic. My brother and dad order the tender Spring lamb with herb gnocci & fennel. They are also impressed with the quality of their lamb. Exquisite yet simple country-style meals prepared with flare. The service here is also 5-star. A very enjoyable experience indeed.
