Only been here the once. If you love old buildings you might enjoy a visit to the Gala. I tend to have more of a preference for modern and new so I felt a bit uncomfortable in this long narrow cinema. However, the screen and movie was great quality and they do have the cheapest admission out of all of our local cinemas.
The only gripe I have with this cinema is that it advertises itself as "The only independant cinema in Wollongong" whereas it rarely deviates from the bog standard fare that other cinemas (including one just over the road!) shows. To my mind an independent cinema is like other cinemas in Sydney that show a full range of movies not just "Mainstream"movies.To their credit they do, on rare occasions screen a French or Italian movie but it's few and far between. As for Australian movies don't hold your breath for any of the cinemas in the 'gonjust get on the train and spend a day in Sydney at other cinemas and catch up on some quality movies.
