If you are after a casual meal and drink on the weekend or after work then this is the place to head to if you are local to STL.
Located right off the main road and short stroll from bus and train stations - this place is easy to find.
It's across two levels and there are some stairs which would make it a challenge for those that have trouble with stairs.
Good view from the upstairs balcony that wraps around two sides of the building.
They sell pints - real bonus. and have a solid selection of brews.
Food is good quality.
Probably slightly more expensive than the pub across the road but the venue is superior so there is no wonder why they charge a little more.
A few TV's makes it easy to watch any sporting event as well.
Such a great spot if you drink and can't drive, because it's so close to St.Leonards train station ( and the Mosman-Manly bus service). The balcony upstairs is quite retro, early 20 th century, but the food and drinks are
modern. The famous chicken schnitzel lives up to its reputation.
Prices are as you would expect, for both food and drinks. The staff are quite loyal, many faces I've seen for some years, so that says a lot. Quieter on weekends, as I think St.Leonards is more alive with office workers during the week.
This is a really great place for a classic pub lunch. The classics of fish and chips and schnitzel are really delicious. It's in a great location near the station for the businesses around St Leonards and while it can quickly become busy, there's adequate space for just two, or a big group. The upstairs terrace area is especially great in the warmer weather.
I have to say that this was quite a nice pub. It was fairly quiet but it did have a really nice atmosphere inside. It seemed to stand as a complete contrast to the St Leonard's Tavern that was across the road, and I felt a lot more comfortable here reading my book along with my beer. The decorations on the wall were pretty nice, as were the model ships that were behind the bar. They also had a pretty decent selection of beers and the guy working here was quite nice as well, always ready to attend to his customers (not that there were many, which is another thing that I've grown to like about some pubs). Another cool thing I though was the words 'like this post' on one of the posts behind the bar which seems to suggest that there is a rather humerous streak in the owner (or at least some of the staff).
