My family arrived in the morning, looking forward to fresh fruit and a chat about local produce. Outside, there were stern warning signs about DO NOT TOUCH the fruit. Fair enough. Once inside, we were greeted by a staff looking down at us. I felt as if they couldn't wait to get rid of us. Not a smile or a chat. My 9 year old was told sternly that the badges he picked up to look at were not for sale. We inspected the produce with our eyes and yes, though it looked fresh enough, the prices were a little high but we were reassured that the fruit was sweet and ready to eat. Yes, it was, but at what cost? Are you prepared to be treated like a criminal as you walk in the door? It was a very stark contrast to toodle up the road to the berry farm where we were treated like long lost friends... Beautiful fruit, with flavour long-lost elsewhere. Also a great range of homemade fruit jams and chutneys. The shed gallery is located conveniently, just about half a km off the highway. Complimented by friendly hosts and a gallery of art, both pastel and watercolour paintings. Was open very early in the morning for through-traffic.
