Farmers Market
Harris Farm Markets
Ohhhhh after being away for a while during a recent visit to Sydney I was glad to stop in at Harris Farm and collect a few staple items (cmon Harris Farm, open a Gold Coast store). Regular weekly specials and great bulk specials (particularly enticing during mango season).

Harris Farm at Broadway Shopping Centre is one of the few remaining old-school looking grocery shops that sells quality products and comes with a community feel atmosphere. However, this store is not far from its imperfections.
The store is located at the basement of the building on a dark car park floor and has semi dark ambience throughout the store. The product settings are quite cluttered, with me almost stumbled on a wooden box just steps after I entered the ...read more
It is always great to be able to locate a growers market so close to the City. It is a very popular market so it is best to time your visits as the aisles are quite close together and it gets very cramped with a mass of trolleys. The deli section is impressive offering all your usual delights such as bacon, ham, turkey, salami and a variety of rarities for the exotic palette such as basturma. The fruit and vegetable section is always fresh and the prices are reasonable. There is a small meat and seafood section, a variety of local and international cheeses, a selection of nuts (the eating kind ;), all different types of eggs, pastas and grocery items. You are definitely bound to find something here that you won't find in other shopping center.
You usually can't go wrong with a Harris Farm market for fresh fruit and veg, but this place didn't come across like that at all. The produce was overpriced for the quality and unlike other stores like Bondi Junction or Potts Point.
The meat was fresh, and the Chicken Tender Loins I purchased were relatively well priced. I did like all the condiments from around the globe and their cheese section was to die for.
There is nothing I look forward too more than going and getting all of my fresh fruit and vegetables each week from Harris Farms. While I appreciate that they have made great efforts to make this the one stop food shop destination with meat, deli items, cheese, grains and so forth, in the last few months its seems that this distraction has lead them to neglect their core offering. Don't get me wrong I love the fact that I can buy all of my groceries here but the quality and freshness of the the fruit is has fallen behind. It has been particularly noticeable during stone fruit season. The shelves have been poorly stocked and the fruit has been tasteless. Don't worry I still rate Harris Farms above everywhere else and up until recently I would have given them between 4.5-5stars but they really need to get back to basics and get the produce back to the way it was.
