Who is Herbie?
Herbie has long been the nickname of Ian Hemphill, one of Australia's foremost culinary herb and spice experts.
Herbie spent his childhood surrounded by herbs and spices, when his parents, John and Rosemary Hemphill, were pioneering the herb and spice scene in the 1950s. Thirty years of working in the industry, including face-to-face lectures to groups from the general public, industrial brokering, manufacturing and marketing, has made Herbie a well-respected and popular figure amongst his peers, in Australia and overseas. Herbies is a Rozelle institution for spices. They're big on education too - they taught me the difference between cassia and cinnamon and I've never bought the wrong one again.

It's a great little store for cooking enthusiasts! They have every herb and spice imaginable in this place. The aroma when you enter the store is amazing. Staff were every friendly.

A beautiful assault on the senses with colour and aroma. An amazing selection of exotic and interesting spices, herbs and blends and the staff will tell you all about them and suggest recipes. Fantastic and very inspiring.
