Went for a watch bracelet resize as it was a new and expensive watch I did not want to do it myself with sub-par tools. The watchmaker did not take the greatest care and left a scuff mark on the side of the case which would have been avoidable if he left it on a towel or something soft.
He rested it on the work bench and had to use some force to get the pins out resulting in a scuff mark that was avoidable. Dissapointed in the result as it was very avoidable. At the end of the day it is just a scuff mark but with the tiniest bit of extra effort, avoidable.
I would go elsewhere with more care and patience in the jobs if you have a watch you really care about.
After hearing a very positive review of the workmanship from a friend, I sent my watch down from Canberra. I had a few phone calls while my watch was being repaired, to keep me up to date. When my sister in law picked up the watch I got another call to verify her identity. I have my watch back now and am very happy. I think the complete experience was very positive.
I have bought 4 watches from this watchmaker and had others serviced here. The service and workmanship is first class and prices way below what you would pay elsewhere. If you need your watch serviced or repaired, your jewellery repaired or cleaned, or you want a beautiful watch or clock without the big price, this is where you will get it....highly recommended !
Wow! Great to find a local watch maker who is reasonably priced- excellent service and a his work comes with a warranty. I had my wife's Rolex watch serviced for the first time - great price - much cheaper and hasn't missed a beat. I sent my friend to Hop Y with his old Omega Speedmaster, now refurbished, can't believe the result- fantastic. highly recommended.
