This Intercontinental is in a good location, right at Adelaide railway station, on the tram route and on the river. The city shops are just around the corner and there are several restaurants, cafes, bars and convenience stores within a few hundred metres. That's really good. The hotel itself has an impressive lobby and atrium, with nicely appointed bar and restaurant. When you get to the guest room area it looks a bit old and tired, with some cosmetic changes done to keep it from looking shabby. Rooms are nice, with higher rooms having views over the river, Oval and city streets. Bathroom is good. Great shower, good towels, hot water and pressure. Bed is very comfortable and furniture is good quality. House service is very good and restaurant food is good quality too. Overall it's fine and I'd come back here.
I had my girlfriends down from interstate again and we decided to catch up for a TGIF meet up after I finished work. Oh it was much needed. We decided to be a little fancy and start off at the Intercontintental with a bottle of sparkling. The service was lovely and the atmosphere was lively. Definitely enjoyed the evening here before we moved on for dinner elsewhere.
My aunty had her birthday here the other week during the early hours of the morning for breakfast. It was a beautiful sunny Sunday morning and the location we were seated at was lovely. The breakfast buffet had good options to choose from and the food was pretty good. Service was great, the only little issues we had was the coffee orders that were getting mixed up and missed even. That aside, we all had a lovely morning here at the Intercontinental. I would definitely consider doing a breakfast or high tea here one time amongst my girlfriends.
Came here for a wedding in the Ballroom last night and loved the set up and size of the room and layout. Really loved the bridal table background and how it was a step higher than the guest tables. Service and staff were attentive and friendly. Food was nice and filling. The Intercontinental did a lovely job!
All the trimmings that you would expect, however the $40 car park on top of the $285 room rankled a bit. A good Japanese restaraunt first floor however the ten minute wait to be greeted at the reception and shown my table didn't match the quality of the food. The large, 'cold' ground floor foyer suffers when cmpared to the more intimate receptions of more recently designed international hotels.
