5 Locations | Brisbane City | The Barracks | Calamvale | The Gap | Oxley Brisbane City store location is Lower Level HSBC Building 300 Queen st 3236-2895Yes, gone are the days of having to brave a swanky hairdresser only to be talked into getting a metro-mullet or golden highlights. Using good old-fashioned barber techniques, Jimmy Rod's Barber Shop is here to take care of you - we promise!
Owner James O'Brien aka Jimmy Rod is bringing barber back for the blokes out there that want a fuss-free salon experience. While the traditional barber shops of past eras may carry visions of buzz cuts and Brylcreem, this time around the barber shop has been given a stylish makeover in the way of a boutique-style shop.
Jimmy Rod's offers all the traditional men's services that have become a forgotten art form, including the old-school neck shave with hot towel. But there's more to Jimmy Rod's than just the short, back and sides. With locations in Calamvale, The Gap, Oxley and the new Barracks precinct at Petrie Terrace, Jimmy Rod's brings the long-established barber shop practises into a modern light, allowing customers to pick from traditional to contemporary styles.
Jimmy Rod's also stocks the entire collection of men's grooming label American Crew, as well as gift packs for men.

My husband went in to the Toowoomba Store today around 1.30pm. He had one other customer push in front of him who came in 40 minutes after him as his 'mate' was working. He then waited over 2 hours to finally get his hair cut. They did however offer him a beer though for waiting so long. Unfortunately the Toowoomba Store is surrounded by so much concrete though that you can't even use your internet on your phone to pass the time. Poor guy had to just sit there. He was told that they are that busy almost every day now, so don't bother going if you don't have 2 hours to waste.
Walked in to the Adelaide Street one, waited a short time on a plush leather couch with beer on offer and ‘Brooklyn 99’ on a massive TV; then a young guy called Erin gave me the best haircut I think I’ve ever had.
Good vibe in there, great cut (everyone walked out looking better), and decent price (mine was $32 - student, but regular would have been $36 I think).
Highly recommended, and I will be going back monthly.
Went into the city store, to wait 45 minutes to be told they couldn't do a cut throat during the lunch hour, to add insult to injury, I even checked at 25mins if they could do it, and the one lady said "I'm not trained to do that, but Stacey is" at 45 mins I sat in Stacey's chair for here to say, I can't do that during the lunch hour , did you want to go to out barracks store!!! Really annoying
Got one really great haircut (5 stars, thanks dude) at Jimmy Rod's (Barracks location) about two months ago and just yesterday got 'hands down' the worst haircut EVER! It took them about 9 minutes to do the butcher job... wish I could attach a photo of the little chunk I lost from my hairline at the temple... seriously!
