I caught up with my old workmates just last week here at the Kensington Hotel. I haven't been here for a few years now so I was keen to see the menu again and eat here, I did recall they had a yummy schnitzel! They had so many different items to choose from on the menu, it made the decision very hard to make for what to have! In the end I chose a salad with added haloumi. My oh my was that Salad serving huge! Like seriously, massive! It was like in a big bowl that you could share amongst yourselves, it was such good value for what you pay these days at pubs and hotels. It was great! The salad was really tasty and fresh, I would like to come back again to try the other salads actually. In regards to service, the service was really good, the staff were very friendly and on the ball. My old team and I had a lovely dinner here at The Kensington.
Im a regular at The Kensi and am sad to say the quality of the food has been getting worse and worse. Tonight i spent $32 on a sirloin steak to take away. When the food was ready i was shocked to see that the meal was presented in a piece of alfoil as the staff explained they had run out of take away food containers. When i got home i was extremly disappointed to see a tiny tiny piece of meat, 7cm long x 5cm and 1cm thick. It was dry and served with 2x slices of potatoe. The restaurant has been serving smaller and smaller serves but this was ridiculous. Hardly worth the 45 minute wait.
So disappointing as it was only 2years ago that the restaurant food was great, used to serve a lamb shank that was amazing and now... im sorry to say but i have been eating there 1x per week and for the last 2 years i cant recall a meal i was impressed with. Shame, but i can't justify dining the anymore.
Great 'local' pub with proper traditional front bar. very good service and atmostphere.
Beer always cold. Always a good option for a counter meal and mid week specials on food and drink. Havent tried dining room yet.
Nicely tucked away in the burbs. Has a small TAB section at end of the front bar and couple of 8 ball tables for those who like to dable in that.
