Food in the past has been great but I haven’t been for over a year. Everything on plate would have taken 2 minutes max to prep filo pastry premade dry revolting couscous a handful of lettuce leaves and green pesto from a jar and it also tasted vile. Salad and hot bar all veggies undercooked (and I like my veggies with a bit of a crunch) not potato bake though think the potatoes were dehydrated version. Will give it a miss in future. Space was fresh and clean and attractive bar staff very friendly and helpful.
Okay, from a quick glance around this place the Kingsford didn't seem to have anything that really stood out, other than the two large beer gardens, yet I still quite liked the place. I guess it was that one of the bar tenders was really friendly, even though the bar that he was looking after hadn't quite opened yet (I always appreciate people who are able to give instructions in a pleasant tone). Okay, they do have pokies, but it is quite hard to find a pub that doesn't have them, especially out in the suburbs (though I do hesitate calling Gawler a suburb). The other thing is that the beer garden out the back is mostly non-smoking, which is also a good thing. I noticed that they do the stone grill here, where you cook your meat on an incredibly hot paving stone, which is something not many other pubs have.
