Lake Cinema in Boolaroo (Lake Macquarie) prove over and over again that it is the simple things in life which are truly the best. Had someone recently try & convince me buying movie tickets online was the only way. His reason being to avoid having to queue with 'others' . What a scary statement.. Some of my greatest memories of living in Newcastle are sitting outside along the Lake Cinema during their busy school holidays, meeting the locals whilst we waited, and wriggling up as the queue moved into the cinema. One screen only, as I am sure it was in my parents' day & and something I believe is important that my children understand & experience. Community spirit, friendliness, yes, .. waiting your turn! A quaint, clean, friendly theatre, with genuine prices and a manager whom is a delight to get to know. The snack shop is small but stocked with plenty to keep the kids happy, and the atmosphere inside the cinema is something not to be missed. A precious ...read more
