If I was fair I would give them at least a 4 star rating but the portion sizes of the otherwise great meals and the over all expense, well, it put me off. This is another of those venues geared moire to the haves, the people with more money than the rest of us can dream off. Oh the food is really nice, I mean, really, but I could not afford here too often in a decade.
My wife and I ate lunch there about 18 months ago and have mixed feelings about it. Early after our arrival for lunch the drinks waiter came around with a bottle of wine and asked if we would like a glass. Without checking what we were getting we replied we would like a whole bottle, which we subsequently got. We got a shock when the total bill for lunch (2 entrees, 2 mains, wine and coffee) came to over $230 and it turned out that we had ordered an $85 bottle of wine. I queried the price with the maitre'd and he confirmed it, so I left it at that and paid the bill. Our fault - we should have checked. So I take responsibility for that but it is still way too expensive. Having said that, the setting by the lake was beautiful, especially on a sunny summer day and the food was excellent. I hadn't eaten at the Lakehouse for a couple of years and I'm pleased to report it's as good today as it has been for many years.
We were in Daylesford for a friend's wedding and a dinner here was the perfect 'post wedding' celebration.
